HolyMonkey Studio was founded in 2004 by Michael Parent, a pixel art veteran who has honed his skills and proven  his talents working for mobile giants such as Gameloft and Glu Mobile for over 6 years, starting out as a Pixel Artist,  he quickly graduated to Senior Technical Artist due to his sharp understanding of technical constraints involved with  working on mobile platforms.  Being visually inclined from early childhood, he fell in love with pixels back when they were the size of bricks and  came in a very narrow range of primary colors. He spent most of his childhood renting, playing and repeatedly  pausing every good looking game he could find, staring intently at the still images on the blurry TV screen, analyzing  the “construction” of the games visual elements.  Michael was not just obsessed with the visual aspect of video games. His numerous conversations with his older  brother (now a professional programmer) were detailed analysis of the programming trickery and “hardware banging”  that was involved in creating the visual effects showcased by the latest masterpieces by the likes of Treasure, Konami,  Psygnosis, etc.  In parallel, Michael taught himself how to draw and paint in several mediums. Before getting professionnally involved  in the video game industry, he had done over 50 paintings including commissioned portraits and reproductions of  Reniassance masterpieces such as shown below.  He also taught adult and child art classes and guest taught at a  local college.   Please click HERE to see Michael Parent’s resume.       Made with Xara 2010 © HolyMonkey Studio Oil, Michael Parent and Ed Sutcliffe Mona Lisa after Leonardo Da Vinci, drawn with 6 Crayola crayons Acrilyc paint, Michael Parent and Ed Sutcliffe Acrylics, Michael Parent and Ed Sutcliffe We make pixels shine.
